The Secret to Getting Healthy Skin Is Sleep & Apple Cider Vinegar?
We humans especially women have looking for the perfect remedy for eternally perfect skin. With time our skin tension deteriorates and our skin becomes wrinkly and starts being prone to skin problems. And we have known this for thousands of years and our quest to find the perfect solution for this is still ongoing.
Now here at my other blogs, I have touted the magical benefits of turmeric and why I think it is a miracle product. I am still not backing away from our claim but like everything in nature, it’s not perfect. But turmeric is as close to perfection as possible. This is why we based our glow pack on turmeric.
But there is no one cure for getting healthy skin here. There are plenty of methods people follow and plenty of things people do to get clear perfect looking healthy skin. However, it seems like nothing beats beauty sleep and apple cider vinegar. These two things have been the cause of some major stirring within the beauty community.
Apple cider vinegar is now considered as one of the best remedies for getting clear skin. But dermatologists have guaranteed that if you are not getting proper sleep then you will most likely never have healthy perfect looking skin.
Here in this blog, I am going to discuss how these two things are the secrets to unlocking perfectly healthy skin! I am going to divide them into two separate sections for you. So let’s start first with sleep.
The Need For Sleep
The term beauty sleep has never seemed more accurate to me than it does now. This is because in recent studies it has been found that proper sleep is key to having flawless healthy skin. When you get a good night’s sleep it literally translates into good looking skin. If you have ever wondered “Can lack of sleep cause acne?”
Well, yes and so much more! Studies show that sleep and healthy skin is integrally connected. When you sleep less your body makes a stress hormone called cortisol. This causes an inflammatory response in your skin causing it to be damaged. This can become a very bad cycle for you if you have eczema.
If you have eczema lack of sleep can irritate it and you can experience immense itching. People have been known to be unable to sleep during an outbreak. That sleeplessness can lead to even more irritation making it a vicious cycle. However, this can easily be changed when you get ample sleep and get back to the natural rhythm of sleep that your body requires.
Now like eczema if you have any other skin condition like psoriasis, it will increase in severity. This is why dermatologists will first ensure you get a goodnight’s sleep before they do other treatments.
Often times people don’t even understand that they are not getting enough sleep. That’s why I have made a list of skin conditions that will help you understand that you are lacking some vital shut-eye time.
Number 1
As I said earlier your body goes into stress mode when you are getting less which causes inflammatory responses worsening any skin conditions you have.
However, that stress hormone also makes your skin more sensitive. This means your skin will be more susceptible to allergic reactions and outbreaks of acne.
Number 2
Your skin’s natural glow comes from molecules like collagen and hyaluronic acid. When you are sleep deprived those molecules breakdown and the natural beauty of your skin goes away.
So if you start to notice the natural glow of your skin is gone and you are starting to look dull and dreary it means you are not getting ample sleep.
Number 3
Remember the inflammatory response? Well, if you have immune-related skin problems like psoriasis you risk making it more severe. If you are experiencing a severe increase in psoriasis then you should know that there is a correlation between heart attacks as well.
This is because a lack of sleep creates the inflammatory response that puts the heart under pressure which often the precursor to a heart attack.
Number 4
As I said earlier, your skin will lose its natural beauty. Along with that, you will start having puffy bags under your eyes and under-eye circles, as well as dryness and more visible wrinkles.
Now if I’m sure about anything its that you don’t want those things to happen. So make sure you get enough sleep.
Number 5
When you sleep your body produces growth hormones. Growth hormones help in stimulating cell repair. So when you don’t sleep properly your body doesn’t produce enough growth hormones.
And this means your skin cells don’t get repaired properly or fast enough and build over time and gradually show signs. This phenomenon is known as early aging. And you want to avoid it at all costs.
Number 6
Research has shown that there is a correlation between weight gain and sleeping less. Not sleeping properly can lead to excess snacking which can be a contributing factor to gaining weight.
Your skin stays healthy till a certain weight and after that, it starts to stretch with the weight damaging its elasticity and supple nature.
On top of that snacks usually tend to be greasy or oily junk food which causes damage to the skin’s health. So always make sure you have slept enough.
Get That Beauty Sleep In
So now you know why you should sleep properly. On top of that here are some additional things you should follow to keep your skin perfectly glowing and perfect.
- First is you shouldn’t eat a big meal too late in the day.
- You must drink plenty of water throughout the day, but not late at night.
- Always sleep under a warm blanket in a cool, dark, quiet room.
- Make sure you keep electronics out of the bedroom.
- Always use breathable cotton sheets and make sure to wash them regularly, so they don’t collect dust mites and bacteria.
- Never use laundry detergents that have strong fragrances, this type of detergent can be irritating to the skin.
The Other Secret To Healthy Skin
So now getting a good night’s sleep will get you far ahead but you can’t stop there for getting perfectly healthy skin. Perfect, healthy-looking skin needs much more and one thing that works like a charm is apple cider vinegar.
Do you know what apple cider vinegar is for your skin? It is the elixir for perfect healthy skin. While I don’t need to tell you what apple cider vinegar is good for in terms of the culinary aspect. I can tell you that it has several benefits and can be used in several ways for skincare.
So now I will tell you about some uses for apple cider vinegar that will give you healthy glowing skin!
Benefits Of Apple Cider Vinegar
The wonder elixir of the beauty world apple cider vinegar can help you with a lot of different aspects of skincare.
From balancing your skin’s pH to acting as an exfoliator, toner, fighting acne and many others. Let’s find out more about what it can do for you:
Using Apple Cider Vinegar Too Soothe & Exfoliate
Apple cider vinegar has anti-inflammatory properties that soothe the skin and the acetic acid softens skin. Along with that, it restores the natural pH of the skin. It also acts as a great alternative to chemical exfoliators.
This is because it has alpha-hydroxy acids. This acid works as a chemical exfoliator and removes the build-up of dead skin cells helping reveal healthier new skin cells. So how do you reap the benefits? Well, you basically pour a cup of apple cider vinegar on your tub and then soak in it or 15–20 minutes.
This will help the protective acids get into your skin while restoring the natural pH level. Remember to always dilute the vinegar before using it as using it directly on your face or body can lead to increased inflammation and dry skin.
A Treatment For Dandruff
Dandruff is basically the body’s response to high levels of yeast growing on your scalp. Apple cider vinegar kills yeast so you can use it to lessen the yeast levels ultimately helping you with your dandruff problem. So what do you do with it?
Well, you simply take equal parts water and equal parts of apple cider vinegar. Mix and apply on your scalp before shampooing. Trust me you will see a gradual decrease in dandruff with prolonged use.
If you have trouble with the smell of the vinegar then you can even try putting some in your shampoo. The smell of the shampoo should cover the smell of the vinegar.
An Acne Fighter
Apple cider vinegar has the distinct privilege of being a substance that is not only an antibacterial substance but also an antifungal and antiviral substance. This means the vinegar keeps the germs at bay ensuring your skin becomes less prone to an outbreak.
On top of that, it exfoliates dead skin which means that the germs cannot get a foothold. It is also helpful in treating blemishes. So how do you do this? It’s not complicated, trust me. But first you test the apple cider vinegar first.
What you do is first is take a cotton swab and dip it in the liquid and apply it on the side of the jawline. If you see there is burning sensation or redness or is itchy then don’t use it.
But if you see no reaction after 5 minutes you simply apply a thin layer of it all over your face. But make sure you don’t let it drip into your eye.
Also Is A Toner
This vinegar is an all-natural astringent. This means it can help remove dirt, oil, and grime from your skin. You can simply apply it on your skin with a washcloth. This will soothe your skin and give it a smoother refreshing feel.
For this, you don’t have to do much. Just need to make an apple cider vinegar facemask, sort of. Simply add a tablespoon of ACV(Apple Cider Vinegar) for every two cups of water and then apply to face.
Trust me it will work wonders. On top of that, you don’t have to wash the liquid and the vinegar will make your skin feel refreshed.
Sunburn Relief
What else is apple cider vinegar good for? Well, it is good for relieving sunburns. When the vinegar starts restoring the natural pH level it automatically kickstarts a healing process. For this, you can use the bath method we talked about earlier.
Or you can simply douse a washcloth with diluted apple cider vinegar and apply it on the sunburnt skin. You will see a fast-acting cure for sunburn with apple cider vinegar.
Too Much Of A Good Thing
Now you know the secret on how to get healthy skin. So make sure you follow the steps and get plenty of sleep. But remember when you do too much of something it has a negative impact. So Make sure you do everything properly.
While sleeping 8 hours a day is ideal but sleeping too much will cause you skin damage and apple cider vinegar will cause problems if you are using it without diluting. So make sure you follow proper procedure because that is also an integral part of skincare.
So with that being said, I will draw today’s discussion to a close. Let me know in the comments below if you are using apple cider vinegar as a treatment for healthy skin. Also if you have any thoughts and suggestions send it in. Till next time, Toodle-oo~
